Silane-crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) compound pellets, also known as moisture-crosslinked polyethylene (PEX or XLPE), are high-performance insulation materials widely used in the manufacture of insulation or jacketing for low-voltage and communication cables. During processing, the compound is grafted with silane molecules onto polyethylene chains, which are then crosslinked using moisture and heat.
